At Lester B. Pearson P.S., we believe each and every student has the ability to make a positive difference in the world. This difference can start simply with an encouraging word or an act of kindness. Once it starts, our students have the power to grow their actions to achieve greater impact. We encourage our students to always do their best in making a difference in the world through their choice of words and actions—both individually and collectively. Through our 4th Annual Week of Giving, we continued working to create a positive change in our community.
We focused our efforts on collecting non-perishable food items to support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. This has been an especially harsh winter for many families across our region. The Food Bank provides food assistance so parents, senior citizens, and individuals do not have to choose between paying their heating bill or buying groceries. Each week, The Food Bank provides emergency food for approximately 36,000 meals.
Together, our school community collected 1 818 lbs of food and $756.45 ! That’s 4 693 meals that the Food Bank can create from what we have contributed!
