Social Responsibility is “acting as caring citizens who want to make our world a better place for everyone”.
We believe each and every student has the ability to make a positive difference in the world. This can be done through a kind word or deed. At LBP, we encourage our students to always do the best they can to make the differences they can make in the world through their words and actions both individually and collectively. February is a month often associated with love (Valentine’s Day). Our wrap up to Social Responsibility will occur during the last week of February. We will be working to create a positive change in our community and in the world through our 3rd Annual LBP “Week of Giving”.
This year we have chosen to focus our efforts on collecting non-perishable food items to support the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. “The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, www.thefoodbank.ca,obtains and distributes approximately 3 million pounds of emergency food each year. To make a difference, it requires our neighbours working together. “
“How Can I Help?” Student Action Plan
The following items can be dropped off to the front foyer:
Monday Feb. 24th – a box of cold cereal
Tuesday Feb. 25th – a can of meat/fish
Wednesday Feb.26th – rice or pasta – “Wear a pink shirt to school to symbolize a stand against bullying.”
We are celebrating Pink T-shirt Day – Students are invited to wear a pink shirt to symbolize that we at LBP stand up against bullying. Two Nova Scotia students started this trend as a way of standing up for a new student in their school who was bullied for wearing a pink t-shirt.
Thursday Feb. 27th – a can/jar of pasta sauce
Friday Feb. 28th – a loonie or toonie
We wrap up February and our week of giving with a loonie and toonie drive. Every loonie or toonie will help as 100% of money collected goes directly to making a difference at The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
